The 1994 budget anticipated an additional staff person for the Economic Development Coordinator position but did not allocate funds to support the work plans for that position. It was recommended that the proposed transfer of necessary funds be put on the May 9, 1994 Council Agenda for consideration. • At the 1994 Council/Staff Strategic Planning and though the Focus 2000 process it was identified that improving the business climate to both retain and attract new companies to the City and enhancing the positive image of the City of Mounds View was crucial to the future prosperity of the City. To support these goals the production of several marketing materials is necessary in 1994. These materials include the following: • community profile containing demographic information on Mounds View • development package for prospective investment opportunities • business resource guide outlining resources available to businesses • production of a folder for professional presentation of materials In addition, to elevate the positive image of the City of Mounds View, City staff must make themselves visible and participate in proactive outreach efforts thereby capturing potential investment opportunities for the City of Mounds View and educating citizens, businesses and political leaders of Mounds View's assets. This is accomplished through the participation in professional development conferences and forums, press releases and a business newsletter. The implementation of the 1994 Work Plan for the Economic Development\Marketing program would be funded by the total transfer of$3 950 with the approval of the attached resolution. .0--rt,et.i 1-4____ Cat y Bennet conomic Development Coordinator • RECOMMENDATION: Staff is recommending that the Council adopt Resolution No. 4566 Amending the 1994 General Fund Budget to support the implementation of a Marketing Program for the City Of Mounds View.
