b
DATE: April 28, 1994
TO: City Of Mounds View
FROM: Mark Sporre, .Manager, Mario's Movies and Games
RE: Company Overview
With the expansion of our retail operations into the City of Mounds View, I thought it
may be beneficial to give a quick overview or our company.
Major Video Concepts, Inc. (M.V.C.) is headquartered in Indianapolis,
qN Il . til.V.C.'s
prime business is the distribution of pre-recorded videocassettes to a network of over
•
5,000 retailers nationwide. M.V.C. currently operates 16 branches, employs over 350
people and is recognized as the second largest video distributor in the U.S.A.
The St. Paul branch of M.V.C. is unique in that it operates as a video retailer as well as
a distributor. The retail portion of the business consists of two stores operating under
the name Mario's Movies and Games. The first store was basically a stand alone
operation, opening in Bloomington in 1989, utilizing 1200 square feet. The second store
also opened in 1989, and was a 2500 square foot store in a strip mall in Brooklyn Park.
In 1992, the Brooklyn Park store expanded into an additional 2500 square feet. This
expansion resulted in a superstore environment, and the revenues increased
•
proportionally. Expansion was then slated for the Bloomington location; however, no
suitable store sites were available in or near our current location. A resulting 5 month
search to relocate this store ended with our lease at Mounds View square.
We at M.V.C. are excited about the opening of our biggest, newest store. We look
forward to a prosperous venture and feel this will have a positive impact on the City of
Mounds View. Please call me with any questions at 484-3311 ext 49. Thank you.
Sincerely,
/
- /
Mark Sporre •
Store Manager
