RESOLUTION NO. 4372 <br /> CITY OF MOUNDS VIEW <br /> COUNTY OF RAMSEY <br /> STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> RESOLUTION RELATING TO THE REGIONAL SENIOR CITIZENS' <br /> CENTER TASK FORCE RECOMMENDATION OF MARCH 30, 1993 <br /> WHEREAS, in September, 1992 a 21-member Task Force was <br /> established by the City Councils of the Cities of Fridley; New <br /> Brighton, Mounds View, and Spring Lake Park with the charge of <br /> studying the need for senior citizens' services and how the four <br /> cities could work together to meet the program and facility needs <br /> for our joint senior populations; and <br /> . WHEREAS, the Task Force met nearly 30 times to complete <br /> their work including a series of public information meetings in <br /> the four cities; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Task Force presented its findings to the four <br /> City Councils on March 30, 1993 , with the recommendation that the <br /> four cities jointly construct and operate a regional senior <br /> citizens center; and <br /> WHEREAS, in order to establish an orderly process which <br /> allows further consideration to take place in a timely manner <br /> regarding the Task Force report, it is necessary that each City <br /> Council indicate their interest in continuing to explore such a <br /> joint venture no later than June 15, 1993 . <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City of Mounds View <br /> that the City Council expresses preliminary interest in pursuing <br /> the construction of a regional senior citizen center and <br /> authorizes staff to proceed with the drafting of a proposed joint <br /> powers agreement that will spell out in more detail the following <br /> issues: <br /> 1. Staff salaries and the possibility of contracting for <br /> management of the Center. <br /> 2 . Weighted votes on main governing board. <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City of Mounds View also . <br /> requests that the Task Force provide the following information to <br /> the City prior to the drafting of the Joint Powers Agreement: <br /> 1. Site acquisition costs if the Anoka County Park site is <br /> not approved by the Metropolitan Council. <br />
