system, consisting of 2 lift stations, approximately 235,000 feet <br /> of sewer mains and over 900 manholes. <br /> 1994 - 1998 PUBLIC WORKS GOALS <br /> The current goals of the department are improving the efficient <br /> delivery of services through more productive equipment, improved <br /> work scheduling, preventive maintenance programs and appropriate <br /> response to maintenance needs. <br /> Specific objectives for 1994 are as follows: <br /> * Continue review of highway and County Road turnback <br /> proposals with special emphasis on existing Highway 10 <br /> turnback and redevelopment potential as a community oriented <br /> corridor. <br /> * Work with Ramsey County on the reconstruction of Old <br /> Highway 8/County Road H connection to Highway 10 and the <br /> intersection of County Road H-2 and Highway 10. <br /> * Enhance employee knowledge and productivity through training <br /> in computer technology and provision of efficient equipment <br /> and tools. <br /> * Begin a street reconstruction program which will bring existing <br /> streets up to city standards and provide off street trails as <br /> appropriate. <br /> * Construction of"minor maintenance" surface water management <br /> projects such as outlet wiers, skimmer installations, and catch <br /> basin repairs. <br /> * Continue'preventive maintenance projects in municipal drinking <br /> water and sanitary sewer collection systems. <br /> A number of issues or policies affect the staffing level projection for <br /> the Public Works Department.
