Materials <br /> Administrator's Review/Recommendation: i <br /> - No comments to supplement this report <br /> - Comments attached. / <br /> Explanation/Summary (attach supplement s Bets as necessary.) <br /> ,SUMMARY; <br /> With the upgrade of the City's telephone system, there have been new <br /> telephone numbers assigned to Public Works Operations and the Park and <br /> Recreation Department. To make sure these numbers get to the public, staff <br /> has been brainstorming for ideas. Other than publishing the numbers in the <br /> City Newsletter and the newspapers and putting them on the cable channel <br /> and the City Hall Marquee, one of the ideas was to print the telephone <br /> numbers on refrigerator magnets and mail them out to residents and <br /> businesses within the City. The following options are some that have been <br /> considered. <br /> Purchase 6000 magnets in the shape of a telephone or in the shape of a <br /> rectangle. The shape of a 2 1/8" x 2 1/2 " telephone would cost about <br /> $ . 18/each or $1080 for all 6000 pieces. For a rectangular shaped magnet <br /> 2 " x 3 1/2 " (standard business card size) , the cost would be $ . 145/each or <br /> $870 for all 6000 pieces . <br /> The cost to mail these magnets depends on how its done. We could attach <br /> them to the City newsletter with a special tape that holds the magnet <br /> securely yet comes off easy. Nystrom Printing would charge $420 for taping <br /> the 5400 pieces. <br /> Another option is to mail the magnets in a separate mailing from the <br /> newsletter such as a postcard. To do this, it would cost about $.25/each <br /> or $1350 for 5400 pieces . This would include a 4 x 6 postcard with <br /> printing and the magnet would be laminated or heat sealed to the postcard. <br /> In addition, they would be mailed bulk, third class which would cost about <br /> $ . 11/each or $594 for 5400 pieces . <br /> In addition, we could pass the magnets out to residents as they come to <br /> City Hall for meetings or to pay bills. <br /> Staff seeks council direction in this matter. <br /> RECOMMENDATION; 0'I <br /> Tim Cruikshank <br />
