Staff <br />has been requested to investigate a replacement for the current podium, which is in poor <br />repair and does not meet the needs of the City. <br /> <br />Background <br />Based on direction from the Council at the December 1, 2008, Work Session, Staff revised <br />the podium specifications to include a second fold-up shelf and indicate load capacity for <br />the fold-up shelves and contacted the vendors with revised information. Staff also revisited <br />the options for off-the-shelf podiums as an alternative to custom-built. <br /> <br />Discussion <br />Quotes for the custom design were received from three vendors. <br />Custom podium Alpha Video AVI Systems Wilkie Sanderson <br />Podium $1822.00 $2749.00 $1379.00 <br />Optional 2nd shelf not addressed included $330.00 <br />Tax $118.43 $178.69 included <br />Shipping/Delivery $180.00 $200.00 included <br />Total $2120.43 $3127.69 $1709.00 <br /> <br />The lowest quote for a custom podium was from Wilkie Sanderson at a cost of $1709 for a <br />podium with two side shelves, or $1379 for a podium with one side shelf. This cost <br />includes delivery and sales tax. Wilkie Sanderson did the millwork for the Council <br />Chambers during the 2006 renovation, so should be able to make a podium that is an <br />extremely good match to the existing materials in the room.
