Item No. 07F
Meeting Date: December 22, 2008
Type of Business: CB
City Administrator Review _______
City of Mounds View Staff Report
To: Honorable Mayor and City Council
From: Desaree Crane, Assistant City Clerk-Administrator
Item Title/Subject: Resolution 7384 Setting the 2009 Meeting Dates for City
Council Meeting Dates, Staff Retreat and the 2009 Town
Hall Meeting

DISCUSSION:

Based on the Council’s schedule of conducting meetings, Work Sessions are normally
scheduled for the first Monday of each month and Council meetings on the second and
fourth Mondays of each month. Attached is a proposed list of Work Session and City
Council Meeting dates for 2009.

Two legal holidays fall on dates that would otherwise be considered Council meetings—
Memorial Day (Monday, May 25, 2009), and Labor Day (September 7, 2009). For these
dates, the schedule reflects a Tuesday.

In addition to setting the official calendar, Staff would like to discuss dates for the
Council/Staff Retreat and the Town Hall Meeting. Don Salvarda & Associates are available
for the Council Staff/Retreat on Monday, February 16th and Tuesday, February 17th
(evenings); and also on Friday, February 20th (in the evening) and Saturday, February 21st
(in the morning). Completing the Council/Staff Retreat in February will allow enough time
for Staff to prepare a presentation for the Town Hall Meeting.

The Town Hall Meeting is currently scheduled for Saturday, April 25th from 9am to 12pm at
the Mounds View Community Center. The Mounds View Community Center is reserved for
the Town Hall Meeting on that date, and staff will start the process of planning this event in
February.

RECOMMENDATION:

Reschedule the meetings that fall on the identified holidays and adopt Resolution 7384
setting the 2009 Meeting Dates for City Council Meetings and Work Sessions.

Respectfully Submitted,
Desaree Crane
