City of Mounds View Page 15
Ardan Avenue Drainage Subdistrict Analysis 000435-07129-0
4.11 LOW POINT ON EASTWOOD ROAD,NORTH OF ARDAN AVENUE
Existing Flood Protection Characteristics:
Overland area to low point (Node 37) = 5.2 acres
Surveyed critical flow path elevation (circled in blue above) = 907.92 feet
Surveyed lowest opening elevation = 907.27 feet (8290 Eastwood Road Garage Floor)
Flood protection between critical flow path and lowest opening elevations = 0 feet
Existing downstream conveyance restriction = 24” storm sewer, downstream of Node 38A
Proposed Improvements to Increase Flood Protection:
Abandon 18” and 15” storm sewer between Nodes 22 and 24, 30A and 31, 33C and 33B , 36A and 38
Tributary area to Node 38A is reduced from 123.7 to 42.5 acres
2-year runoff rate from Node 38A is reduced from 62 to 19 cfs
Flood Protection Recommendation:
Based on the survey information collected around Node 37, it appears that once street ponding
overflows to the west, flows may enter the garage of 8290 Eastwood Road prior to flowing around
the garage to the rear of this lot. As the City has no record of a flooding complaint from this property
owner, it is likely that when street ponding occurs, it is contained within the street and not
overflowing to the west. When Eastwood Road is reconstructed, this low point should be closely
examined to maintain the existing level of flood protection to the existing garage of 8290 Eastwood
Road.
