Mounds View City Council March 24, 2014 <br />Regular Meeting Page 2 <br /> <br />renovations to the Shoreview Library would begin in 2015. It was her hope that the expansion in 1 <br />Shoreview would not adversely impact the Mounds View Library. 2 <br /> 3 <br />Finance Director Beer discussed the high-speed internet cable that the City installed for use at its 4 <br />library noting the City was willing to partner with the County to advance the fiber connectivity. 5 <br />Commissioner McGuire appreciated this suggestion. 6 <br /> 7 <br />Council Member Meehlhause asked if the House put TCAAP in its bonding bill. Commissioner 8 <br />McGuire stated the House had not placed TCAAP in its bonding bill, which was becoming an 9 <br />extremely frustrating situation. She indicated she and Representative Yarusso would continue 10 <br />working on this issue to have bonding set aside for TCAAP in the Senate bill. She noted the 11 <br />governor supports bonding for TCAAP. She encouraged the Council to contact the Senate 12 <br />Bonding Chair regarding this matter. 13 <br /> 14 <br />Council Member Mueller requested further comment on the poverty issues in the northeast 15 <br />metro. She encouraged the County to improve the mass transportation in Mounds View to assist 16 <br />employees in getting to and from work. Commissioner McGuire appreciated this comment and 17 <br />understood this was a concern for the northeast metro region. She explained she would bring this 18 <br />concern to the County Board. 19 <br /> 20 <br />Mayor Flaherty stated County Road 10, a sound wall and the intersection of County Road H and 21 <br />County Road 10 were concerns for Mounds View. He discussed the redevelopment taking place 22 <br />in the City and thanked Commissioner McGuire for her time. 23 <br /> 24 <br />7. COUNCIL BUSINESS 25 <br />A. 7:00 p.m. Public Hearing, Resolution 8234, Approving a Temporary On-Sale 26 <br />Intoxicating Liquor License for Maxx’s Bar and Grill to Sell Liquor During 27 <br />the August 16, 2014, Mounds View Festival in the Park Event. 28 <br /> 29 <br />Assistant City Administrator Crane stated that Maxx’s Bar and Grill was requesting a temporary 30 <br />on-sale intoxicating liquor license to sell liquor at the Festival in the Park on August 16, 2014. 31 <br />She reported all liquor licenses must be approved by the City Council. All necessary permits and 32 <br />fees have been paid by the applicant and the Festival in the Park Committee recommends the 33 <br />Council approve the temporary permit for Maxx’s Bar and Grill. She reported the approval 34 <br />would be contingent upon staff receiving a satisfactory criminal background check. 35 <br /> 36 <br />Mayor Flaherty opened the public hearing at 7:37 p.m. 37 <br /> 38 <br />Hearing no public input, Mayor Flaherty closed the public hearing at 7:37 p.m. 39 <br /> 40 <br />MOTION/SECOND: Gunn/Hull.
