Discussion: The department is requesting to purchase one 2017 Ford Police Interceptor Utility vehicle and one 2017 Ford Fusion Sedan unmarked vehicle for administrative / investigative designation. The utility vehicle offers the all wheel drive, but more importantly provides increased interior room as well as additional cargo area for equipment. The addition of another utility vehicle will also provide an alternative means of use for the patrol officers as the current Chevrolet Tahoe is designated for the Community Service Officer. The Ford Police Interceptor Utility vehicle is offered at the state contract price of $ 26,312.95 from Nelson Auto Center in Fergus Falls. The addition of some necessary options will increase the total cost to $26,981.95. The equipment setup costs and graphics installation for this utility vehicle will be an estimated total of $11,000.00. Additional equipment items that are budgeted for are a new radio for, $ 3,800.00, a new radar for $ 3,000.00 and an in-car-camera system for, $ 5,500.00. The price of the vehicle includes a $45.00 fee for delivery. The total cost for this vehicle is $ 50,326.95. The Ford Fusion is being offered at the state contract price of $ 18,605.88 from Nelson Auto Center in Fergus Falls. The addition of some necessary options will increase the total cost to $ 18,689.88. The estimated setup cost is $ 3,200.00 with the addition of a new mobile radio for $ 3,800.00. The price of the vehicle includes delivery. The total cost of this vehicle is $ 25,689.88. The total purchasing costs and setup amounts still come in at or below the budgeted amount of $77,300.00 (Fund 460 Department 4200 Account 7040). Recommendation: Staff recommends authorizing the purchase of one 2017 Ford Police Interceptor utility vehicle and one 2017 Ford Fusion Sedan including all additional equipment and setup costs.
