RESOLUTION 8709 <br /> <br />CITY OF MOUNDS VIEW <br />COUNTY OF RAMSEY <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> <br />APPROVING THE PURCHASE OF NEW DUMP TRUCK <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City has had the practice of replacing dump trucks on a fifteen- <br />year cycle. This 15 year trade-in period allows the fleet to be economically maintained <br />without having major repair bills which are not typically recovered in the trade-in value: <br />and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Staff recommended in 2015 that the time frame to replace unit #424 <br />be moved up for replacement in order to have all three plow trucks equipped with under <br />body plows which helps to reduce the amount of salt applied the roads; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Council approves and places in the operating budget the <br />cost for replacing vehicles, and; <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City has received a quote for a 2017 Mack GU Single Axle unit, <br />with a with a Cummins ISL-D 345hp diesel engine, Allison 3000-RDS 6 speed <br />transmission in the amount of $88,832.00, not including license and transfer fees, under <br />the State contract from Nuss Truck & Equipment of Roseville Minnesota, and: <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City has received a quote from Tow Master Truck Equipment to <br />outfit the truck to include a dump body, front plow, wing plow, snowplowing light <br />package, underbody scraper and controls; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS funding is available in the Pavement Management Fund, 460-4470- <br />7040, has $125,000.00 budgeted for this dump truck purchase. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of <br />Mounds View, Ramsey County, Minnesota as follows: <br /> <br />1. Approves this purchase of a 2017 Mack, GU532 SBA, single axle unit, with a <br />Cummins ISL-D 345hp diesel engine, Allison 3000-RDS 6 speed transmission <br />in the amount of $88,832.00, not including transfer or license fees from Nuss <br />Truck & Equipment of Roseville MN., and is recognized through the <br />Cooperative Purchasing Venture (CPV), a members-only program that <br />enables participating governmental units, such as Mounds View, to purchase <br />goods and services under competitive contract terms established by the State <br />of Minnesota. <br />2. City Council also approves the purchase of equipment and options for the <br />2017 Mack Dump Truck including a dump body, front plow and wing, under <br />body plow, lights and cab controls under the State contract to Towmaster
