Item No: 7I <br />Meeting Date: February 13, 2017 <br />Type of Business: Council Business <br />Administrator Review: ____ <br /> <br />City of Mounds View Staff Report <br />To: Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />From: Don Peterson, Public Works Supervisor <br />Item Title/Subject: Resolution 8712, Approving the Purchase of Two (2) 2017 F150 <br />Service Pickup Trucks <br /> <br />Background/Discussion: <br />As part of the Public Works Department’s maintenance program, service trucks are purchased for <br />the departments to perform the needed maintenance and inspections required throughout the City. <br />The Street Department has in use a 2004 Ford 150 truck, unit #438 that is currently assigned to the <br />Engineering Department. The Water Department has a 2002 F150, unit #704, with a utility box in <br />use. These trucks are used for daily operations, inspections and hauling materials associated with <br />water main breaks, and other various tasks. <br /> <br />Discussion: <br />Staff has received a quote off of the State of Minnesota Cooperative Purchasing Venture for two new <br />2017 F150 4x4 Super Cab and chassis for a cost of $29,704.76 each or a total of $59,409.52 from <br />Midway Ford of Roseville MN. <br /> <br />In addition to the Cab and chassis, Staff has received a quote off of the State Of Minnesota <br />Cooperative Purchasing Venture from Crysteel Truck and Equipment from Fridley MN, for tool <br />boxes, back rack for $1,483.79 each or a total of $2,967.58. <br /> <br />Total cost for each unit with the options is $31,188.55. These units are in the 2017 Budget in fund <br />460-4470-7040, budgeted amount in the Street Department of $34,000.00, and the W ater <br />Department of $35,000.00. <br /> <br />Service trucks #438 and #304 will be sold at auction and the monies received will be used to offset <br />the total cost of the new units. Unit #704 will be reassigned and replace #304. <br /> <br />Recommendation: <br />Staff recommends the purchase of two (2) 2017 F150 super cab and chassis off of the State Of <br />Minnesota Cooperative Purchasing Venture from Midway Ford of Roseville MN for a cost of <br />$59,409.52. Staff also recommends approving the purchase of tool boxes and back racks with <br />options from Cysteel Equipment of Fridley MN at a total cost of $2,967.58. Approve units #438 and <br />#304 being placed on auction.
