<br />Draft MV Recreational Fire Requirements <br />September 7, 2010 <br />Page 2 <br /> <br /> <br />2.4 Recreational fires are not permitted when the designated fire official or the DNR has <br />officially declared a burning ban due to potential hazardous fire conditions or when the <br />MPCA has declared an air quality alert. <br /> <br />3. Enforcement <br /> <br />3.1 When the smoke from a recreational fire is offensive to nearby neighbors, or the <br />burning is determined to constitute a hazardous condition, Police and Fire Department officers <br />are authorized to require that the fire be immediately extinguished and discontinued. <br /> <br />3.2 If it is determined that the fire is not in compliance with the above rules, the property <br />owner and/or the responsible party may be charged with a misdemeanor, requiring a court <br />appearance and punishable by fines up to $1,000 and/or 90 days in jail. <br /> <br />Violations of these fire rules are misdemeanor offenses requiring a court appearance and punishable <br />by fines up to $750 and/or 90 days in jail.
