Item No. 5B & C <br />Meeting Date: January 7, 2008 <br />Type of Business: WS <br />WS: Work Session; PH: Public Hearing; <br />CA: Consent Agenda; EDA: EDA Business <br />Administrator Review: _____ <br /> City of Mounds View Staff Report <br />To: Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />From: Desaree Crane, Assistant City Administrator <br /> <br />Item Title/Subject: Festival in the Park Budget & <br />Mounds View 50th Anniversary Celebrations <br /> <br /> <br />Budget <br /> <br />There is $14,500 in budget number 100-4110-3900, which covers the Festival in the <br />Park ($4,250) and the Mounds View 50th Anniversary Celebrations ($10,250). Last <br />year, the City Council passed Resolution 7117, which authorized additional <br />expenditures to the Festival in the Park, not to exceed $5,300, to assist the Committee <br />in payment of Insurance, Professional Bands, Port-a-Potties, Irondale Marching Band, <br />use of the City’s copier machine, and the Car and Tractor Show. The Festival in the <br />Park Committee met in December, and would like to ask the City Council if the City <br />would assist in the expenditures for this two day festival this year. The Festival in the <br />Park is scheduled for August 16 and 17, 2008. <br /> <br />The Festival in the Park Committee has a drafted budget, and will be finalizing the <br />budget soon. The Festival Committee needs assistance on payment of insurance, <br />Professional Bands, Port-a-Potties, Irondale Marching Band, use of City’s copier <br />machine, the Car and Tractor Show and Festival in the Park Signage. If the City <br />Council is in agreement in helping with festival expenditures, then the Festival <br />Committee will present a list of these expenditures at either the February or March Work <br />Session. <br /> <br />Mounds View 50th Anniversary Celebrations <br /> <br />As stated above, the City budgeted $10,250 for the 50th Anniversary of Mounds View <br />Celebrations. A 50th Anniversary Committee has been established, and comprises of <br />myself, Interim City Administrator Jim Ericson, Councilmember Flaherty and <br />Councilmember Mueller. The 50th Anniversary Committee drafted a theme for the <br />celebration, “Mounds View, Celebrating 50 years of Pride, Progress, and Partnerships,” <br />and started brainstorming ideas for celebrations. The Anniversary Committee would <br />like to do monthly celebrations to include: displaying Mounds View City Flags <br />throughout the City, ice cream socials, and a reunion of former Mayor and Council <br />Members. In past discussions, the City Council wanted to start the 50th Anniversary <br />Festivities at the Town Hall Meeting. Staff and the Anniversary Committee would like
