Mounds View City Council <br />Regular Meeting <br />page Foul <br />October 25, 'Q9: <br />explained that in an effort to reduce the costs to the tnree oi�i==, �••� <br />Fire Department has successfully negotiated a contract <br />ordunofire <br />services <br />with the Twin cities Army Ammunition Plant (TCAAP). <br />ed that <br />it is a very good contract, one that represents a fine <br />example of intergovernmental cooperation and an opportunity to reduce the <br />three cities budget amount for fire services. <br />MOTION/SECOND: Quick/Trude to Approve the Contract for Fire Services <br />between Spring Lake Park - Blaine - Mounds View - Fire Department and the <br />Twin City Army Ammunition Plant (TCCAP) <br />VOTE: 5 ayes <br />11 <br />0 nays Motion Carried <br />Samantha orduno, City Administrator, explained that Dynex has held <br />the contract with the County since 1991 and has provided exceptional <br />service not only to the City of Mounds View but to the entire <br />County. orduno further stated that Dynex has a fine reputation in <br />the community as a business and has also been an outstanding partner <br />in many public/private cooperative efforts in the City. <br />orduno read a letter from Zach Hansen, Manager, Ramsey County <br />Department of Public Health, Division of Solid Waste, explaining _J <br />the City that Dynex is one of three facilities being considered for <br />the Ramsey County hazardous waste management contract. <br />orduno then introduced Brian Sjoberg, President of Dynex. Mr. <br />Sjoberg introduced Don Wodich, Environmental Manager and General <br />Consel for Dnex, <br />thesCounty contractpresented <br />tthaDynex ief has history <br />has held <br />since 1991. <br />Mr. Wodek asked that the City Council support Dynex in its efforts <br />to be awarded the hazardous waste management contract for the County <br />of Ramsey for the year 1994 and beyond. <br />Councilmember Trude asked Mr. Wodek to give a brief explanationof <br />what happens to the hazardous waste materials collected byDynex. <br />Mr. Wcdek explained that most of the items collected are latex <br />paints and pesticides. The latex paints are shipped to Toledo where <br />they are incinerated and turned into binder for cement block. The <br />pesticides are shipped to Arkansas and incinerated for disposal. <br />Mr. Wodek stated that there are approximately a,000 residents using <br />the facility and stated the hours and days of operation. Mr. Wodek <br />also mentioned that there is no charge to the residents for this <br />hazardous waste collection. <br />
