DEPARTMENTAL BUDGET NARRATIVE <br />FUND: General <br />Golf Course <br />DEPARTMENT OBJECTIVE: <br />The objective of the Golf Course is to provide a quality leisure <br />recreational facility for residents to enjoy. Also the golf <br />course is intended to be a gemstone of the community, emitting a <br />good image to the City of Mounds View. The golf course will be <br />self-supporting enterprise fund facility. <br />DEPARTMENT ACTIVITIES <br />The golf course activities will include initial construction of <br />the course. During this time a Golf Course Superintendent will <br />be hired to assist with the on -site construction supervision and <br />"bull -dogging". Once the course is constructed, a grow -in time <br />will be in effect at which time the course will need to be <br />maintained with seasonal workers, but at which time the course <br />will not be in operation. Once the grow -in time is complete, the <br />course will be open for operation. <br />DEPARTMENT GOALS <br />Golf course goals for this initial year is to complete a quality <br />course through excellent planning and architectural services, and <br />excellent construction to be completed within the budgeted <br />amount. <br />DEPARTMENT EXPENDITURE COMMENTS <br />The golf course will be funded with the sale of revenue bonds. <br />The City will up -front money to be paid back with interest from <br />the golf course pay -back program. Profits received from the golf <br />course operation throughout the years will be used for the <br />continued improvement and maintenance of the golf course. <br />
