• LOCAL GOVERNMENT AID (LGA) <br /> A portion of the State sales tax revenues which are paid <br /> directly to the City to assist in paying for general fund <br /> operations. Two (2) percent of the 6.5% sales tax paid on <br /> goods and services is dedicated to fund all State aid <br /> programs to cities, schools, counties and other local <br /> government entities. LGA is a revenue that is paid directly <br /> to the City. <br /> TAX LEVY <br /> The total amount of money to be raised by property taxes <br /> to pay for City services and programs. The total tax levy <br /> certified to the County is offset by the following "non- <br /> revenue" State programs - the funds from these programs <br /> • are not paid directly to the City, but rather are deducted <br /> from the total levy to reduce the total tax burden on the <br /> property owner: <br /> CREDIT AID (HACA) <br /> AND AGRICULTURE ( ) <br /> State aid paid directly to cities to compensate cities for the <br /> decreased tax revenues which result when the State <br /> reduces- a-property-class--rate on-a-particular- category-of <br /> - <br /> . . . - . . - : : : _ - .• <br /> shift the increased tax burden to the other properties in the <br /> taxing area (residential).
