<br />Item No: 07F <br />Meeting Date: 03/12/07 <br /> Type of Business: CB <br />City of Mounds View Staff Report <br /> <br /> <br />To: Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />From: Kurt Ulrich, City Administrator <br />Item Title/Subject: Resolution 7033 Adopting City Vision and Mission <br />Statement, Goals Program, Values Statement, and <br />Rules of Conduct <br /> <br /> Introduction <br />On February 7th and 8th, the city council and department heads held a leadership <br />retreat at the Random park recreation building. The retreat was facilitated by Don <br />Salverda, an outside consultant, for the purpose of strategic planning and team <br />building among the City’s key elected and appointed officials. <br /> <br />Over the two evenings of the retreat, the Council and Department Heads <br />discussed the past, present and future, and responded with revised organizational <br />goals and an action plan to respond to the opportunities facing the City of Mounds <br />View over the next two years. <br /> <br />Discussion <br />The group reaffirmed a shared vision for success, by agreeing on the current vision <br />and mission statement. The vision statement reads: <br /> <br />We see Mounds View as a proactive community that takes pride in its <br />achievements. We are responsive to the changing needs and interests of <br />our residents and businesses. As a result, our community thrives and <br />prospers. <br /> <br />The mission statement reads: <br /> <br />Provide high quality public services that effectively address changing citizen <br />and community needs in a fiscally responsible and customer-friendly <br />manner. <br /> <br />Participants also reaffirmed the City’s motto of “PRIDE – PROGRESS - <br />PARTNERSHIPS” as a slogan that is still very relevant to the work the City will be <br />doing in the next couple of years. The group also worked on a variety of other <br />items including; improving communication, identifying future issues and <br />opportunities, reviewing individual roles and responsibilities, identifying <br />organizational values, establishing goals, and creating an action plan. <br />
