RESOLUTION NO. 4194 <br /> CITY OF MOUNDS VIEW <br /> COUNTY OF RAMSEY <br /> STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE <br /> CITY OF MOUNDS VIEW, MINNESOTA <br /> URGING THE STATE OF MINNESOTA TO EXPAND THE <br /> FUNDING FOR THE STATE OUTDOOR RECREATION GRANT PROGRAM <br /> WHEREAS, the State has invested over $50 million in local outdoor recreation <br /> projects, which has been matched by over $57 million in local government funds; and <br /> WHEREAS, the State program has been significant incentive to local governments <br /> to undertake needed park acquisition and development projects; and <br /> WHEREAS, the State program has helped accelerate renovation and replacement <br /> of facilities that did not meet the handicapped accessible standards; and <br /> WHEREAS, parks play an important role in many communities' economic <br /> development efforts by improving the desirability of the community as a place to live and <br /> work; and <br /> WHEREAS, the demand for State assistance through this program remains strong <br /> and that in 1991 only $1 million in State funds was available to help meet over $4 million <br /> in grant requests. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of <br /> Mounds View, Minnesota that the Council urges the State to continue and expand <br /> funding for the State's Outdoor Recreation Program to help local governments <br /> throughout Minnesota provide adequate outdoor recreation opportunities, acquire and <br /> protect open space areas and improve the quality of life for present and future <br /> generations. <br /> Adopted this_24th_day__of_Febriar 1992. <br /> (SEAL) <br /> Jerry Linke, Mayor <br /> Attest: <br /> Samantha Orduno, Clerk-Administrator <br />
