Item No. 7I <br />Meeting Date: April 23, 2007 <br />Type of Business: CB <br />WK: Work Session; PH: Public Hearing; <br />CA: Consent Agenda; CB: Council Business <br />City Administrator Review _______ <br /> City of Mounds View Staff Report <br />To: Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />From: Greg Lee, Director of Public Works <br /> <br />Item Title/Subject: Resolution 7073 Approving the Hiring of William <br />Hanggi as a Part-time Seasonal Employee and <br />Setting a Wage for Returning Seasonal <br />Employees in Public Works <br /> <br />Background <br />On March 26, 2007 the City Council adopted Resolution 7052 approving the <br />2007 Seasonal Public Works Positions. <br /> <br />There were two issues that required additional resolution pertaining to the 2007 <br />Seasonal Public Works Positions. <br /> <br />Issue 1 – Advertising for Part-time Seasonal Employee, establishing the work <br />schedule for this position (hours/days per week), length of employment, and <br />hourly wage. <br /> <br />Issue 2 – Establishing an hourly wage for returning seasonal employees and <br />engineering intern. <br /> <br /> <br />Discussion <br />Part-time Seasonal Employee <br /> <br />The part-time seasonal employee position was advertised. A requirement of this <br />position is that a successful applicant would posses a Class A water license. <br />The City received one application for this position from William Hanggi. <br /> <br />William Hanggi formerly held the Lead Utility Worker position in the Water <br />Division of the Public Works Department. Mr. Hanggi resigned on May <br />31, 2006 after being employed by the City for over 33 years. Mr. Hanggi <br />would be available to work three days per week and would assist with <br />activities such as hydrant flushing, training, and general assistance in the <br />Water Division or other areas, as needed. One of the primary <br />responsibilities of Mr. Hanggi would be to continue to train the current <br />lead utility operator, and to train and educate the newly hired water
