9-1-2 9-1-2 <br /> BILLBOARD Any structure or portion thereof upon which are <br /> • <br /> placed signs or advertising used to display official <br /> court or public notices, or a sign advertising the sale <br /> of or lease of the premises on which the sign is <br /> located. <br /> BOARDING or LODGING A building other than a hotel, motel or restaurant <br /> HOUSE where meals and/or lodging are provided for <br /> compensation to three (3) or more persons, but not <br /> more than twelve (12) persons, not transients, and <br /> who are not members of the householder's family. <br /> BUILDING Any structure having a roof supported by columns or <br /> walls and designed or intended for the shelter, <br /> support, enclosure or protection of persons, animals <br /> or chattels. <br /> BUILDING AREA The space remaining on a zoning plat after the <br /> minimum open space requirements of this Chapter <br /> have been complied with. <br /> BUILDING HEIGHT The vertical distances measured from the sidewalk <br /> level or its equivalent established grade opposite the <br /> middle of the front of the building to the highest <br /> point of the roof in the case of a flat roof; to the <br /> deck line of a mansard roof; and to mean height <br /> level between eaves and ridge of a gable, hip or <br /> gambrel roof; provided, that where buildings are set <br /> "`''�' back from the street line, the height of the building <br /> may be measured from the average elevation of the <br /> building finished lot grade at the front of the building. <br /> BUILDING LINE A line established by law or agreement usually <br /> parallel to property line, beyond which a structure <br /> may not extend. This generally does not apply to <br /> uncovered entrance platforms, terraces and steps. <br /> CARPORT A covered shelter which is open to the weather on at <br /> least two-(2-)-sides,, intended-for-the-use-of-shelter-ing <br /> not more than two (2) motor vehicles. <br /> CONDITIONAL USE A use or occupancy of a structure, land, permitted <br /> only upon issuance of a conditional use permit and <br /> subject to the limitations and conditions specified <br /> therein. A conditional use permit for use in any <br /> district which is listed in the district regulations as a <br /> conditional use for the class of such district and shall <br /> be authorized only in accordance with the regulations <br /> of such section. <br />
