This step was taken in <br /> preparation for possible future consolidation of the four existing <br /> precincts, (1, 2, 3, 4) in to one single precinct (precinct 1) . The <br /> single polling place designation allowed the City to employ 12 election <br /> judges instead of the 24 previously employed judges for primary and 32 <br /> for general elections. This was a cost savings to the City of Mounds <br /> View of $1, 095 in election judge salaries. <br /> Staff is proposing the consolidation of the four precincts to one single <br /> precinct for the following reasons: <br /> 1) Reduce expenditures and still conduct efficiently conducted <br /> elections: <br /> a. reduction in salaries paid due to employing fewer judges <br /> b. less staff time taken obtaining judges <br /> c. use of one Chairperson and a Co-Chair rather than <br /> four Chairpersons <br /> d. all ballots and forms printed for one precinct rather <br /> than for four precincts <br /> e. same progr d-be-u-s-ed for al-1 five-m-achrne-s <br /> In order to undertake the consolidation of the four precincts the City <br /> must: (M.S.204B. 14, Subdivision 4) <br /> 1) Prepare and file with the County Auditor of Ramsey <br /> County, the Secretary of State and with the State <br /> Planning Commissioner maps showing the correct <br /> Michele Severson, Deputy Clerk <br /> J ECOMMENDATIONz <br /> Council approval of Resolution No. 4225 Consolidating the Existing Four <br /> Precincts in the City of Mounds View into One Single Precinct <br />
