CITY OF MOUNDS VIEW <br />COUNTY OF RAMSEY <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> <br />APPROVING A POLICY FOR DEDICATING MEMORIALS IN CITY PARKS <br /> <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Council has been discussing the possibility of <br />developing guidelines / policy for allowing memorials in City parks (or other City <br />property); and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City has allowed such memorials to be placed in City <br />parks in the past, but has not provided any guidelines or policies for such <br />memorials; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Parks and Recreation and Forestry Commission has <br />discussed this subject and has developed a recommended policy; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, on November 5, 2007, the City Council reviewed and <br />discussed this policy. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, THAT the Mounds View City <br />Council does hereby approve the attached policy for dedicating memorials in City <br />parks and authorizes the City Administrator to execute it. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Adopted this 26th day of November 2007. <br /> <br /> <br /> ____________________________________ <br /> Rob Marty, Mayor <br /> <br />ATTEST: <br /> <br />____________________________________ <br /> James Ericson, Interim City Administrator <br /> <br /> <br />(SEAL) <br />Public Works <br /> <br />MEMORIALS IN CITY PARKS (on public property) POLICY <br /> <br />Purpose <br />The City recognizes the desire of citizens to commemorate a former resident with <br />the dedication of a memorial in a City park or on City-owned property. Such a <br />memorial may include planting a tree, dedicating a bench, etc.
