<br />Item No: 07L <br />Meeting Date: 02/13/06 <br /> Type of Business: CB <br />City of Mounds View Staff Report <br /> <br />To: Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />From: Kurt Ulrich, City Administrator <br />Item Title/Subject: Resolution 6743 Adopting City Vision and Mission Statement, Goals Program, <br />Values Statement, Rules of Conduct, and Action Plan <br /> <br /> Introduction <br />On February 6th and 7th, the city council and department heads held a “leadership – planning – team <br />building” retreat. The retreat was held at the Mounds View Community Center and facilitated by Don <br />Salverda, an outside consultant. <br /> <br />Over the two evenings of the retreat, the Council and Department Heads discussed the past, present <br />and future, and responded with revised organizational goals and an action plan to respond to the <br />opportunities facing the City of Mounds View over the next two years. <br /> <br />Discussion <br />The group reaffirmed a shared vision for success, by agreeing on the current vision and mission <br />statement. The vision statement reads: <br />We see Mounds View as a proactive community that takes pride in its achievements. We are <br />responsive to the changing needs and interests of our residents and businesses. As a result, <br />our community thrives and prospers. <br /> <br />The mission statement reads: <br /> Provide high quality public services that effectively address changing citizen and community <br />needs in a fiscally responsible and customer-friendly manner. <br /> <br />The group also worked on a variety of other items including; improving communication, identifying <br />future issues and opportunities, reviewing individual roles and responsibilities, identifying organizational <br />values, establishing goals, and creating an action plan. <br /> <br />Recommendation <br />As part of the retreat follow-up, it is recommended that the Council formally adopt the City Vision and <br />Mission Statement, Goals Program, Values Statement, Rules of Conduct, and Action Plan. The <br />attached Resolution 6743, adopting these items, is presented for council consideration and <br />recommended for approval. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />
