Mounds View City Council March 13, 2006 <br />Regular Meeting Page 17 <br /> <br />Mayor Marty referenced Change Order 7 on the Change Order Summary, and asked why it has a 1 <br />cost of $0. Director of Public Works Lee stated that a contingency of $15,000 was built into the 2 <br />contract, and the some of the change orders are billed toward the $15,000 contingency, so it 3 <br />shows up on the report as $0. 4 <br /> 5 <br />Mayor Marty referenced Change Order 19 which is a credit of $633 for the removal of dampers. 6 <br />Director of Public Works Lee explained it was not needed to meet the Building Code, so it was 7 <br />deleted from the project. 8 <br /> 9 <br />Mr. Jahnke stated that the change orders are ironic, because the City projects tend to start at one 10 <br />number and continues to increase. 11 <br /> 12 <br />Councilmember Thomas pointed out that the project is still under budget. 13 <br /> 14 <br />Mayor Marty pointed out the Fire Station is coming in on budget, too. 15 <br /> 16 <br />MOTION/SECOND: FLAHERTY/THOMAS. To waive the reading and adopt Resolution 6771 17 <br />Approving Change Orders No. 7-10 for the City Hall Rehabilitation Project. 18 <br /> 19 <br />Councilmember Stigney asked if the total amount of the change orders total $94,751. Director of 20 <br />Public Works Lee explained this is all that is anticipated. Resolution 6768 Approving Out of State Seminars/Schooling. 26 <br /> 27 <br />Public Works Supervisor Pittman explained there are two out of state seminars Public Works is 28 <br />recommending for approval, American Traffic Safety Service Association (ATSSA) training 29 <br />conference in Fargo, North Dakota, and Elgin Crosswind Street Sweeper Two-Day Training 30 <br />School. 31 <br /> 32 <br />Public Works Supervisor Pittman stated Public Works is requesting four staff members to go to 33 <br />the Elgin Crosswind Street Sweeper class. He stated this highly sophisticated and expensive 34 <br />equipment was recently purchased. He stated it is a very in depth, hands-on, two-day class. He 35 <br />stressed it would be difficult for only two people to go and then relay what they have learned. He 36 <br />stated the four staff going there would be the ones who will be operating the equipment. He 37 <br />stated the more people that know the equipment, the more accountability there is for the 38 <br />equipment and Staff. 39 <br /> 40 <br />Public Works Supervisor Pittman noted that it was budgeted for two Staff to attend the ATSSA 41 <br />training conference, but only one Staff will be going. He stated the savings could be transferred 42 <br />towards the Elgin Crosswind Training School. He noted there will are funds from other training 43 <br />classes that Staff will not be participating in that could be transferred to pay for these classes. 44 <br /> 45
