DEPARTMENTAL BUDGER NARRARTIVE <br /> DEPARTMENT: Advisory Commissions <br /> DEPARTMENT OBJECTIVE <br /> The Advisory Commission Budget provides funding for various City <br /> Commissions and Committees including the Planning and Parks and <br /> Recreation Commissions and the Environmental Quality Task Force. <br /> DEPARTMENT ACTIVITIES <br /> The Planning Commission serves as an advisory commission to the <br /> City Council on all land planning matters and acts as the Board of <br /> Adjustment and Appeals when reviewing variance requests . <br /> The Parks and Recreation Commission serves as an advisory <br /> commission to the City Council on matters relating to the City's <br /> recreational and parkland matters by undertaking studies and <br /> investigations as directed by the City Council. <br /> The Environmental Quality Task Force serves as an Ad Hoc Task Force <br /> which is directed by the Council to conduct special research <br /> projects such as evaluating the City's Recycling Program. <br /> No staff members are assigned to this Department. <br /> DEPARTMENT GOALS <br /> Goals for the Planning Commission include updating necessary <br /> regulatory codes as part of the recodification of the City Code. <br /> The Environmental Quality Task Force goals involve an examination <br /> of alternative options to the City's Annual Spring Clean-Up Day and <br /> to also examine the City's Recycling Program and suggest areas of <br /> improvement. <br /> nERARTMENT EXPENDITURE GQMMENTS <br /> The Advisory Commission Budget does not contain new programs or <br /> activities . <br />
