DEPARTMENTAL BUDGET NARRATIVE <br /> FUND: General <br /> DEPARTMENT: Administration <br /> DEPARTMENT OBJECTIVE <br /> The objective of the Administrative Department is to provide the <br /> day-to-day leadership and management of the City's operations so as <br /> to implement City Council policies and provide efficient and <br /> effective municipal services. <br /> DEPARTMENT ACTIVITIES <br /> The Administration Department encompasses the duties and <br /> responsibilities of the City Administrator and those assigned by <br /> the City Council or City Code. Activities include: public <br /> relations, internal and external communication and informational <br /> programs, coordination of all economic development activities, <br /> municipal records management, inter-governmental relations, staff <br /> development, and monitoring and analysis of all legislation <br /> affecting municipal operations . <br /> DEPARTMENT GOALS <br /> The goals of the Administration Department are established by <br /> Council directives and the goals and objectives developed at the <br /> Annual Council/Staff Goalsetting session. Special attention will be <br /> given in 1992 to the following goals : <br /> - Coordination of the City Hall remodeling project <br /> - Development of the City's economic base through revenue <br /> producing capabilities such as the development of the <br /> land adjacent to County Road J and 135W. <br /> - Expan n-of—eeenemr ent an itation and <br /> economic redevelopment opportunities through the creation and _ <br /> implementation of a Housing and Redevelopment Authority. <br /> - Continued participation in the inter-governmental organizations <br /> and overall activities related to the issues of Local <br /> Government Aid allocation and distribution. <br /> DEPARTMENTAL EXPENDITURE COMMENTS <br /> The Department is staffed by the City Administrator and the <br /> Administrative Secretary/Deputy City Clerk. <br /> Legislative action (both State and Federal) in the past several <br /> years have created mandates which have placed increasing <br />
