DEPARTMENTAL BUDGET NARRATIVE <br /> FUND: General <br /> DEPARTMENT: Maintenance Garage <br /> DEPARTMENT OBJECTIVE <br /> The maintenance garage provides fleet management for all City vehicles. Preventive <br /> maintenance, repairs, and fuel station activities are included in these responsibilities. <br /> The overall objective is to provide the most cost effective vehicles and equipment <br /> services for the City. <br /> DEPARTMENT ACTIVITIES <br /> The garage provides preventive maintenance in the form of oil changes, lube jobs, <br /> and tune-ups. Routine and emergency repair for all vehicles is also provided by the <br /> garage. Operation and maintenance of the City shops as well as maintenance of City <br /> Hall is also provided in this department. <br /> DEPARTMENT GOALS <br /> - Tracking fleet performance. <br /> Improving inventory control and reporting. <br /> Review preventive maintenance schedules. <br /> - Meet EPA and MPCA requirements for underground fuel storage. <br /> DEPARTMENT EXPENDITURE COMMENT <br /> The major expenditure is for upgrading the diesel fuel pump and adding leak <br /> detection-for—the undcrground—tank. L-ek dete-ctiun is required EPA and MPCA <br /> regulations. <br />
