Gam, g <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 4087 <br /> CITY OF MOUNDS VIEW <br /> COUNTY OF RAMSEY <br /> STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> RESOLUTION SUPPORTING THE ENACTMENT OF THE 1/2% <br /> LOCAL SALES TAX BY THE RAMSEY COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br /> WHEREAS, the Minnesota Legislature has passed a Tax Bill <br /> which includes an optional 1/2% sales tax; and <br /> WHEREAS, Counties and municipalities within Minnesota <br /> have the option to enact this sales tax as a mechanism to <br /> replace lost State Aid; and <br /> WHEREAS, failure to approve the 1/2% Local Sales Tax by <br /> either Ramsey County or a majority of Ramsey County <br /> municipalities could result in substantial State Aid <br /> reductions, property tax increases and serious reductions in <br /> service delivery; and <br /> WHEREAS, it is the desire of the City Council of the City <br /> of Mounds View to cooperatively and successfully work with the <br /> intent of the 1991 Tax Law to alleviate property taxes; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Council recognizes the difficulties inherent <br /> in a sales tax increase to segments of the general population; <br /> and <br /> WHEREAS, the Council is also cognizant of the need to <br /> continue to provide quality service to its residents in the <br /> manager and to the degree which provides for its health, <br /> safety and welfare of its residents . <br /> WHEREAS, the Ramsey County Board of Commissioners as <br /> requestedallRamsey- County—mu-nie palit-ies to-repos--back- to <br /> the Ramsey County Board, in resolution form, their viewpoint <br /> on the enactment of the optional 1/2% local sales tax in order <br /> for the County Board to meet state imposed deadlines. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of <br /> the City of Mounds View hereby supports enactment of the 1/2% <br /> local sales tax by the Ramsey County Board of Commissioners. <br /> Adopted this 10 day of June, 1991. <br />
