REQUEST FOR COUNCIL CONSIDERATION Agenda Section: Item 6
111
CURBSS
STAFF REPORT Report Number: 91-12A
I° AGENDA SESSION DATy 6, 1991 Report Date: May 6, 1991
DISPOSITION
Item Description: Disposal of Contaminated Soil at Public Works Shops
Administrator's Review/Recommendation: Q
- No comments to supplement this report C/`
- Comments attached.
Explanation/Summary (attach supplement sheets as necessary.)
,SUMMARY;
The Public Works Department has contacted several companies
regarding the disposal of the contaminated soil stock-piled at
the Public Works Shop. This material was generated when the
underground gasoline tanks were removed last fall. The initial
source of disposal was to be land spreading this spring; however,
there are many additional restrictions on land spreading and it
apparently is not feasible at this time. One of the possible
disposal locations would charge $42 per ton which is estimated to
be a total of $25,000. Staff is checking on alternate locations
which may be significantly less expensive. The state petro-fund
will reimburse 90% of the costs after the work is completed.
Staff will have the stock-pile removed prior to Clean-Up Day.
Additional information will be forwarded to Council as it becomes
available.
•
Ric neto
City Engineer/Director of Public Works
RECOMMENDATION;
