Resolution 6798, A Resolution of Appreciation for Stan McDonald for over 3 <br />four years of dedicated service with the Mounds View Economic 4 <br />Development Commission (EDC). 5 <br /> 6 <br />MOTION/SECOND: MARTY/STIGNEY. To approve Resolution 6798, A Resolution of 7 <br />Appreciation for Stan McDonald for over four years of dedicated service with the Mounds View 8 <br />Economic Development Commission (EDC). 9 <br /> 10 <br />Mayor Marty stated he wished Mr. McDonald was here tonight to present the Resolution to him 11 <br />personally. Mayor Marty stated he first met Mr. McDonald when he was a Council liaison to the 12 <br />Park and Recreation Commission, and indicated Mr. McDonald has contributed quite a bit to the 13 <br />community. 14 <br /> 15 <br /> Ayes – 5 Nays – 0 Motion carried. 16 <br /> 17 <br />7. COUNCIL BUSINESS 18 <br /> 19 <br />A. 7:05 p.m. Public Hearing and Consideration of a Conditional Use Permit for 20 <br />an Over-size Garage at 8495 Sunnyside Road. 21 <br /> 22 <br />Community Development Director Ericson explained that the applicants, Don and Diane Balk, 23 <br />are building a new home and would like to expand the garage to 1,062 square feet in order to 24 <br />park their recreational vehicle inside. He explained that the maximum sized garage permissible 25 <br />without a conditional use permit is 952 square feet. 26 <br /> 27 <br />Director Ericson stated that all the setbacks and maximum square footage requirements of the 28 <br />conditional use permit is satisfied with this proposal. He stated that all possible adverse effects 29 <br />of the proposed conditional use were considered, and there does not appear to be any adverse 30 <br />effects. 31 <br /> 32 <br />Director Ericson explained that the home is two stories, and the home is taller than the garage. 33 <br />He stated the garage was designed to be incorporated into the home itself, and it is well designed 34 <br />so that it fits in and blends in with the homes and other homes in the area. 35 <br /> 36 <br />Mayor Marty opened the public hearing at 7:26 p.m. 37 <br /> 38 <br />Robert Ringdahl, 8485 Sunnyside Road, stated he lives in the house right next to the proposed 39 <br />garage, and commented that it is quite a big garage and it is close to the property line. 40 <br /> 41 <br />Mayor Marty closed the public hearing at 7:27 p.m. 42 <br /> 43 <br />Mayor Marty stated that a number of years ago, there was an individual that wanted to build a 44 <br />garage to use for parking a recreational vehicle instead of having it sit in the driveway for the 45
