Mounds View City Council May 22, 2006 <br />Regular Meeting Page 23 <br /> <br />not aware of any grants. 1 <br /> 2 <br />Councilmember Thomas asked when it will be available. Police Chief Sommers stated it should 3 <br />be available in two weeks and will be installed immediately. 4 <br /> 5 <br />Councilmember Flaherty asked if there are grants to install now but be paid back later. Police 6 <br />Chief Sommers stated he is not aware of grants to cover standard equipment such as this. 7 <br /> 8 <br />Councilmember Gunn questioned the two estimates, noting the General Signals bid includes the 9 <br />removal of the existing siren, which is not mentioned in the RT Electric bid. She also asked 10 <br />about the radio control feature. Police Chief Sommer explained that RT Electric did remove the 11 <br />siren. He explained the radio control is a separate item that signals the siren. 12 <br /> 13 <br />MOTION/SECOND: THOMAS/GUNN. To waive the reading and adopt Resolution 6828, A 14 <br />Resolution Authorizing the purchase of a replacement civil defense siren. 15 <br /> 16 <br />Mayor Marty asked about the other sirens. Police Chief Sommer stated one is the same model 17 <br />and the other was purchased in 1986. He advised the sirens are tested regularly and he receives 18 <br />those reports. He stated the sirens will be included in the CIP so there is a replacement schedule. 19 <br /> 20 <br /> Ayes – 5 Nays – 0 Motion carried. 21 <br /> 22 <br />7. COUNCIL BUSINESS - continued 23 <br /> 24 <br />A. 7:05 p.m. Public Hearing for the Second Reading and Adoption of Ordinance 25 <br />772, an Ordinance Amending Chapter 7 of the Mounds View City Charter. 26 <br />(ROLL CALL VOTE) 27 <br /> 28 <br />It was noted that the public hearing was held earlier in the meeting and this item had been tabled 29 <br />until a full Council was in attendance. 30 <br /> 31 <br />MOTION/SECOND: THOMAS/FLAHERTY.
