She clarified that the business voluntarily tested their decibels and 2 <br />reduced the noise. 3 <br /> 4 <br />Mayor Marty suggested that Mr. Waste work with the Police Department to correct such issues 5 <br />and applauded Mr. Waste on his willingness to address the issues. 6 <br /> 7 <br />MOTION/SECOND: THOMAS/MARTY. Resolution 6852 Approving Rotary Club Membership. 14 <br /> 15 <br />City Administrator Ulrich stated this item was discussed at the June 5th City Council work 16 <br />session. He stated it was the consensus of the Council to invite the president of the New 17 <br />Brighton/Mounds View Rotary Club, Mr. George Winiecki, to a Council meeting to introduce 18 <br />himself, answer questions, and explain the benefits of the Rotary membership. 19 <br /> 20 <br />Mr. Winiecki presented the Council with information about the Rotary Club. He explained 21 <br />Rotary is a worldwide organization of business and professional leaders and that members of 22 <br />club are involved in all aspects of business and government. He said they have mayors, real-23 <br />estate developers, Council members, school superintendents, principals, and many private and 24 <br />public sector members. 25 <br /> 26 <br /> Mr. Winiecki stated the Rotary Club provides community and humanitarian services, promotes 27 <br />high ethical standards and promotes peace throughout the world. He explained that there are 28 <br />many rotary clubs throughout the world. 29 <br /> 30 <br />Mr. Winiecki said that the Rotary Club has made several contributions throughout the area. He 31 <br />stated for example, that the club in Mounds View returns the funds they raise back into the 32 <br />community. He noted that $600 was contributed to a Mounds View Park, that they contributed 33 <br />to a youth latch-key program through Community Partners to Youth latchkey program in, and 34 <br />also gave money to the Northwest Youth and Family Service. 35 <br /> 36 <br />Mr. Winiecki said the club gives to the local food shelf. He said they used to distribute food 37 <br />directly to the citizens, but that working with the food shelf is more efficient. He said they have 38 <br />a large Easter egg hunt which includes 700-800 children. 39 <br /> 40 <br />Mr. Winiecki stated the explained that they contribute to CEAF, the Community Emergency 41 <br />Assistance Fund, which assists people who have needs for emergency money. He stated they 42 <br />hold people accountable. He explained that they also organize a carnival for children who have 43 <br />Spina bifida. 44 <br /> 45
