APPROVAL OF AGENDA 21 <br /> 22 <br /> A. Monday, July 24, 2006 City Council Agenda 23 <br /> 24 <br />MOTION/SECOND: FLAHERTY/THOMAS. To Approve the Monday, July 24, 2006 agenda 25 <br />as presented. 26 <br /> 27 <br /> Ayes – 5 Nays – 0 Motion carried. 28 <br /> 29 <br />5. PUBLIC INPUT 30 <br /> 31 <br />Ken Glidden, 5240 Edgewood Drive, stated his question regards the agenda and the order of 32 <br />Items D and E. He stated that Item D deals with a variance denial and Item E deals with the IUP 33 <br />and asked why they were in that order. 34 <br /> 35 <br />Community Development Director Ericson suggested Items D and E be switched. 36 <br />Councilmember Thomas pointed out that one of the items was a public hearing, and one was not. 37 <br /> 38 <br />David Jahnke, 8428 Eastwood Road, stated his concerns regarding the proposed fitness center. 39 <br />He said he does not understand why the City is willing to spend $500,000 on a fitness center 40 <br />when there are several private fitness centers in the City. He stated the proposed fitness center 41 <br />would not mean the building is being given back to the residents. He stated the Council should 42 <br />consider it closely before approval. He stated he has not spoken to one other resident who is in 43 <br />favor of the fitness center and believes that it will be a failing business. 44 <br /> 45
