Mounds View City Council August 14, 2006 <br />Regular Meeting Page 28 <br /> <br />Catch Basins 1 <br /> 2 <br />Councilmember Flaherty asked Director Lee about catch basins throughout the City. 3 <br /> 4 <br />Director Lee explained that soil is permeating into the catch basins and that the basins are 5 <br />nearing the ends of their lives. He stated that they are creating large sinkholes in the street when 6 <br />the soil infiltrates the catch basins. 7 <br /> 8 <br />Councilmember Flaherty asked if the problem would be addressed with the street projects. 9 <br />Director Lee stated the issue would be addressed. 10 <br /> 11 <br />Councilmember Flaherty asked if only one bid was received. Director Lee stated that the only 12 <br />bid was received and it will be much more expensive for City Staff to complete the project. 13 <br /> 14 <br />MOTION/SECOND: FLAHERTY/THOMAS. To waive the reading and adopt Resolution 15 <br />6896, Approving a Contract Award for the Repair of Leaking Catch Basins. 16 <br /> 17 <br />Ayes – 5 Nays – 0 Motion carried. 18 <br /> 19 <br />I. Resolution 6897 Approving SEH for Architectural Services for 2006 Building 20 <br />Upgrades for Wells and Treatment Plants 21 <br /> 22 <br />Councilmember Flaherty asked if this is for services or for the replacement doors and windows. 23 <br />Director lee explained that it would be for their services, not for the new equipment. 24 <br /> 25 <br />Director Lee stated that he wants SEH to look at what other options are available for the wells 26 <br />and that the issue is more complicated than simply replacing a door. 27 <br /> 28 <br />Councilmember Flaherty asked about the costs. Director Lee replied that the entire project is 29 <br />estimated at $25,000, which is replacing doors, painting doors, replacing windows and 30 <br />ventilation in Well Two, as well as fixing the façade in Well Two. 31 <br /> 32 <br />Director Lee pointed out that the proposal is an estimate but it will not exceed the amount and 33 <br />SEH will be paid on an hourly basis. 34 <br /> 35 <br />MOTION/SECOND: FLAHERTY/GUNN.
