Item No: 07K
Meeting Date: December 11, 2006
Type of Business: CB
City Administrator Review: _____
City of Mounds View Staff Report
To: Honorable Mayor and City Council
From: Desaree Crane, Assistant to the City Administrator

Item Title/Subject: Resolution 6987 Approving a Step Increases Don Burda, Full
Time Temporary Building Inspector; Officer Ben Knitter,
Mounds View Police Officer, Justin Solberg, Public Service
Officer

Background:

Don Burda, Officer Ben Knitter, and PSO Justin Solberg are current employees with the
City of Mounds View. Their supervisor has reviewed their performances as it relates to their
responsibilities outlined in the job description.

Discussion:

It was determined that Don Burda, Officer Ben Knitter and PSO Justin Solberg have more
than satisfactorily performed in the capacity of their position, and therefore, a step increase
wage adjustment is consistent with the Personnel Manual and Labor Agreements.

It was discussed at the November 27, 2006, City Council Meeting that the City Council
would like to see all 6-month step increases prior to the employee’s probationary period
ending. Don Burda’s 6-month probationary period ended on November 24, 2006, and it
came to staff’s attention after the November 27, 2006 Meeting. All other 6-month step
increases will be going to Council, as directed, prior to the 6 month probationary period.

Recommendation:
Staff recommends approval of Resolution 6987, approving the Step Increases.

Respectfully Submitted,
Desaree Crane
