410
MEMO TO: MAYOR & COUNCIL
FROM: MARY SAARION, DIRECTOR
PARKS, RECREATION & FORESTRY
DATE: JANUARY 2, 1991
SUBJECT: REVENUE SOURCES MANAGEMENT SCHOOL
I applied and received a grant for professional enrichment from
the Minnesota Recreation & Parks Foundation. This grant is
offered every year to Parks & Recreational professionals. This
year three recipients were chosen and I was one of the three. I
am very excited to have the opportunity for advanced schooling in
a specialty area of my profession. I think that this information
will be especially pertinent at this time when the City is
thinking about development of the land north of 610. Also, since
the direction of parks facilities in the City of Mounds View may
be leaning towards revenue producing facilities, the information
gained at this school will be valuable for future developments in
the area of parks facilities and recreation services.
A copy of the curriculum is attached. The costs include:
$169.00 air fare (Sun Country charter, there may be addition sir
. charges)
290.00 registration fee
275.00 room and board (includes meals)
112.00 limosine service to the center
The total cost is approximately $846.00. Subtracting the $500 .00
grant, the cost for the City of Mounds View is $346.00.
I request the Council to approve my request to attend the Revenue
Sources Management School during February 17-22, 1991 with the
cities, portion of the funding to include $346.00 to be funded
from the training fund, 100-4350-363.
