Nv451,N, /5 <br /> 411 TO: Mayor & Council <br /> FROM: Don Brager, Finance Director - Treasurer <br /> DATE: January 2, 1991 <br /> SUBJECT: Appointment to Nominating Committee of the Government <br /> Finance Officers Association of the United States & <br /> Canada(GFOA) <br /> I have been appointed to the Nominating Committee of the GFOA by <br /> GFOA President Gary Norstrem. The Nominating Committee has the <br /> responsibility of selecting GFOA members as nominees for the <br /> position of President-Elect and for five positions on the <br /> Executive Board. The Nominating Committee will have two meetings <br /> in the GFOA Chicago office. The first will be held on Friday <br /> January 11, 1991 and the second on Monday March 11, 1991. Members <br /> • of the Nominating Committee are reimbursed by the GFOA for their <br /> travel expenses. <br /> In the past the Council has encouraged staff ' s participation in <br /> their professional associations and allowed staff to participate <br /> in meetings and other functions of their professional <br /> S associations during normal business hours. The purpose of this <br /> memorandum is to inform you of my appointment to the Nominating <br /> Committee of the GFOA and to request a reaffirmation of past <br /> unwritten policy regarding staff participation in professional <br /> associations.
