By having a trench box more suitable <br /> for municapal applications , we will provide a safer , more efficient <br /> enviornment for our employees while performing underground repairs . <br /> The bids recieved were as follows : <br /> Hayden-Murphy Equipment Co . $ 6 . 634 . 00 <br /> Carlson Equipment Co. $ 6 , 163 . 00 <br /> Information regarding the two was reviewed and discussed with <br /> my staff and our oppinion is that the trench box offered by Carlson <br /> Equipment will suit our needs and will be easier to use than the <br /> competitors . We have budgeted a combined amount of $ 9 , 000 . 00 for <br /> • this purchase . Since the bid price is less than that amount, I am <br /> requesting to purchase an additional spreader set to expand our <br /> versatility of the orignal trench box. Costs for this addition <br /> will be approximately $ 325 . 00 . <br /> RECOMMENDATION ; Staff recommends award to Carlson Equipment for the <br /> specified trench box for the amount of $ 6 , 163 . 00 , with an addit- <br /> ional set of spreaders for approximately $ 325 . 00 to be divided <br /> equally between water account 700-4121-703 , and sewer account <br /> 730-4121-703 . <br /> • <br />
