glk <br /> \ir-e4-kc <br /> 411 <br /> MEMO TO: MAYOR AND COUNCILMEMBERS <br /> FROM: MARY SAARION, DIRECTOR <br /> PARKS, RECREATION & FORESTRY <br /> DATE: SEPTEMBER 25, 1990 <br /> SUBJECT: CONSIDERATION OF RENEWING EMPLOYMENT AGREEMENT OF <br /> MARVIN JOHNSON JR AS ATHLETIC COORDINATOR <br /> The contract for Marvin Johnson Jr. , Athletic Coordinator expires <br /> on October 24, 1990 <br /> Staff is requesting Council to consider approving the continued <br /> employment of Marvin Johnson Jr. as Athletic Coordinator. <br /> There are two procedures for implementing Mr. Johnson's <br /> employment. One is to continue with an annual contractual <br /> agreement. The other is to approve employment of Mr. Johnson <br /> consistent to other employees of the City. Currently Mr. Johnson <br /> is the only employee that is under a contractual agreement even <br /> though the make-up of his job follows a supervised employee <br /> standard rather that a contractual service, which requires a <br /> contract. <br /> 5 Since Mr. Johnson's job duties constitute the work of an employee <br /> rather than a contractual service, staff requests Council 's <br /> consideration for approving the employment of Mr. Johnson as <br /> Athletic Coordinator. <br /> The position of Athletic Coordinator was budgeted on the fiscal <br /> year for 1990 and therefore funding is already appropriated <br /> through the approval of the 1990 budget up to December 31, 1990. <br /> A funding request would then be made for the position of Athletic <br /> Coordinator for the fiscal year 1991. <br /> Recommendation: Extend the contract for Marvin Johnson Jr. as <br /> Athletic Coordinator to the end of the year, December 31, 1990. <br /> • <br />
