Minetor, PE <br /> Director of Public Works <br /> City of Mounds View <br /> 2401 Highway 10 <br /> Mounds View, MN 55112 <br /> RE: COUNTY ROAD I PATHWAY <br /> SHOREVIEW CITY PROJECT 90-12 <br /> Dear Mr. Minetor: <br /> We are currently completing the plans and specifications for the County Road I Pathway <br /> Project. The plans and specifications detail the requirements for the construction of <br /> approximately 5,400 lineal feet of the eight-foot-wide bituminous pathway along the north <br /> side of County Road I in the cities of Shoreview and Mounds View. <br /> The project includes the installation of a bicycle/pedestrian bridge crossing of Rice Creek. <br /> The City of Shoreview will purchase a prefabricated steel bridge structure, as manufactured <br /> by Continental Bridge, for the Rice Creek crossing. The project plans and specifications <br /> have been prepared to include the construction of concrete spread footing abutments for the <br /> bridge, and all other necessary work for the installation of the bridge on the abutments. <br /> The project also includes modifications to the I-35W overpass bridge crossing of County Road <br /> 41/6 The existing structure does not currently include any provisions for the construction of <br /> athway or sidewalk adjacent to County Road I. The plans have been prepared to include <br /> Improvements to the existing bridge structure, since it did not appear feasible or safe to <br /> route pedestrians or bicycles onto the roadway under the structure. The improvements <br /> include the construction of concrete retaining wall to enable the pathway to be built behind <br /> the existing bridge pillars and a guardrail system. <br /> We have completed an Engineer's Estimate for the project as summarized below. Estimated <br /> administrative and overhead costs have been included to determine the total project cost. <br /> The project cost based on estimates prepared for the Phase I and Phase II feasibility studies <br /> is also shown for your information and comparison. <br /> The new Engineer's Estimate for the construction cost is approximately 20 percent greater <br /> than the feasibility study estimate due to Ramsey County's requirements for the construction <br /> the required modifications to the I-35W overpass.
