• POSITION ACCOUNTABILITY WRITE-UP (Mounds View) <br /> Position Title Public Works Foreman Date: August, 1987 <br /> Department Public Works <br /> Accountable To Public Works Director/City Engineer <br /> Primary Objective of Position <br /> To oversee, under general direction, the day-to-day administra- <br /> tion of the City' s Public Works programs in a manner which <br /> ensures the desired level of maintenance consistent with the <br /> Home Rule Charter, City codes, council policies, and Federal/ <br /> State regulations. <br /> Major Areas of Accountability <br /> Assists the Public Works Director/City Engineer with the 1 <br /> preparation of departmental goals and objectives and <br /> annual budget for recommendation to the City Council in <br /> order to estabish the desired level of maintenance for the <br /> City of Mounds View. <br /> In consultation with the Public Works Director/City Engineer, 2 <br /> . plans and schedules approved Public Works projects in <br /> each assigned area, e.g. water, sewer, streets, parks, etc. , <br /> to make the best use of available material and personnel. <br /> - supervises public works maintenance personnel on a <br /> daily basis to establish work assignments and schedules <br /> in order to complete work in a timely and cost-effective <br /> manner. <br /> Oversees or personally performs training in the proper use 3 <br /> of City equipment to minimize the possibility of damage <br /> and/or downtime and ensures that an adequate number of <br /> maintenance personnel are qualified to operate each piece <br /> of equipment. <br /> Recommends departmental safety regulations and operating 4 <br /> procedures that are in compliance with applicable <br /> Minnesota Occupational Safety and Health Laws and regula- <br /> tions. <br /> Coordinates the maintenance of all City machinery and equip- 5 <br /> ment and analyzes equipment needs. • <br /> - for budgeted Public Works vehicles and equipment 6 <br /> purchases, prepares specifications, receives and <br /> • analyzes bids and recommends purchases. <br />
