1
' f Of MOUJ1 yri/
CS O
1 .
RAMSEY COUNTY,MINNESOTA
GATEWAY TO THE NORTH 2401 HIGHWAY 10
MOUNDS VIEW,MINN.55112
DEPARTMENT OF PARKS, 784-3055
RECREATION AND FORESTRY
March 21, 1990
Dear Silver View Park Neighbor:
On behalf of the City of Mounds View, the Parks and Recreation Commission and the
Silver View Park Task Force requests your compliance in eliminating phosphorus from
the fertilizers that you may use. It has been reported that the phosphorus run-off
from fertilizers into Silver View pond encourages the growth of weeds in the pond.
To help alleviate the unsightliness and stench that may occur from weeds in the pond,
we ask your compliance in curbing the phosphorus presence in the pond water.
• When you purchase fertilizer, ask for NITROGEN AND POTASSIUM - CONTAINING
FERTILIZER WITHOUT PHOSPHORUS. This mixture is sufficient for lawn
maintenance. If you contract services with a lawn service, request a mixture without
phosphorus.
Together, we can curb the problems of phosphorus contaminants in the pond which
will further curb more noticeable problems of weed growth. With your cooperation
and with the cooperation of your neighbors, we can help keep Silver View Park pond
a beautiful natural community resource.
For further information, please call the City of Mounds View, Parks, Recreation and
Forestry Department at 784-3055.
Sincerely,
Wayne Burmeister, Chairperson
Mounds View Parks and Recreation Commission
• David Long, Chairperson
Silver View Park Task Force
