RESOLUTION NO. 2596 <br /> ati,„ <br /> , - <br /> STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> COUNTY OF RAMSEY <br /> CITY OF MOUNDS VIEW <br /> RESOLUTION FOR IMPLEMENTATION OF THE <br /> NATIONAL STANDARDS FOR YOUTH SPORTS <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Mounds View recognizes the need for establishing <br /> standards for quality youth sports programs through the "Say Yes to Better Sports for <br /> Kids" campaign; and <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Mounds View recognizes the need for the <br /> National Standards for Youth Sports to provide a better quality experience for the youth <br /> of the community; and <br /> WHEREAS, the National Standards for Youth Sports recommend a <br /> certification program for youth sports coaches whereby the coaches are schooled in <br /> the psychology of coaching youth sports, maximizing performance, injury prevention, <br /> first aid; and emphasizes a drug and alcohol-free environment for youth sports and <br /> recognizes the great influence youth coaches have on our youth; and <br /> WHEREAS, the National Youth Sports Coaches Association meets all of <br /> these guidelines by teaching coaches to have a better understanding of organization, <br /> • teaching proper techniques, safety, and bringing them up to a more knowledgeable <br /> level in the psychological and physical needs of dealing with young athletes, and <br /> ensuring all children obtain a wholesome experience in youth sports; and <br /> WHEREAS, through the implementation of the National Standards for <br /> Youth Sports and through the "Say Yes to Better Sports for Kids" campaign and this <br /> certification program, the youth sports leagues can provide quality in its youth sports <br /> programs in their communities. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of <br /> Mounds View in a meeting duly assembled and by the authority thereof, recognize <br /> and encourage official implementation of the National Standards for Youth Sports, and <br /> encourage official implementation of certification training programs for all youth <br /> sports coaches in Mounds View through the National Youth Sports Coaches <br /> Association to provide quality youth sports programs in Mounds View. <br /> Adopted this day of , 1990. <br /> (SEAL) <br /> MAYOR <br /> 0 <br /> ATTEST: <br /> CLERK-ADMINISTRATOR <br />
