Charles Ahl , PE <br /> Director of Public Works <br /> RE: County Road I Pathway <br /> Feasibility Report <br /> City Prgject 90-12 ! <br /> Honorable Mayor and Members of the City Council : <br /> The following report details the results of our feasibility study investigation <br /> for the construction of a bituminous pathway and a pedestrian bridge along the <br /> • north side of County Road I between Aldine Street and Interstate Highway 35W, <br /> . On March 5, 1990, the City Council of the City of Shoreview ordered the prepara- <br /> tion of a feasibility study to examine the costs associated with the construc- <br /> tion of the pathway and pedestrian bridge. <br /> PROPOSED IMPROVEMENTS <br /> • <br /> • <br /> Approximately 3,650 lineal feet of eight-foot wide bituminous pathway is pro- <br /> posed to be constructed along the north side of•County Road I within existing <br /> right-of-way. The pathway construction is proposed to begin at the end of the <br /> existing pathway at._Aldine Street, and extend west to a point approximately 300 <br /> . . . ai • t. . it • ..d <br /> • at its western terminus to route pedestrian and bicycle traffic under the <br /> existing Interstate Highway 35W overpass. The distance between the pathway and <br /> County Road I will vary from 7 to 15 feet as required by existing land features. <br /> The proposed pathway will require the construction of a bridge structure over <br /> Rick Creek. The bridge is proposed to• be constructed between the existing ;r <br /> County Road I roadway bridge and the existing St. Paul Water Department water <br /> conduit frost box bridge structure. Ramsey County currently has plans for the <br /> replacement of the County Road I bridge, but at this time, it is unknown when <br /> the replacement work will be performed. The proposed plans for the new County <br /> Road I bridge include 'an eight-foot wide sidewalk/pathway on the north side of <br /> the bridge.
