Mounds View City Council June 11, 1990 <br /> Regular Meeting Page Thirteen <br /> 0 Motion: Mathiowetz•that the City of Spring`Lake Park <br /> go on record to change the existing name of Lakeside <br /> Park to have it formally changed to Lakeside Lion' s <br /> Park. <br /> Councilmember Mason - nay <br /> Councilmember Conde - nay <br /> Councilmember Mathiowetz - aye <br /> Councilmember Carlson - nay <br /> Mayor Wells - aye Motion Failed <br /> Clerk/Administrator Pauley suggested the Councils <br /> could direct the Park and Rec Directors of both cities <br /> to meet with the Lion' s Club and discuss an entrance <br /> sign and meet with the Councils at a future date. <br /> Motion: Mason to have the two Park and Rec Directors <br /> get together with the Lion's Club and discuss <br /> alternate methods of recognition. <br /> Councilmember Mason - aye <br /> Councilmember Conde - nay <br /> Councilmember Mathiowetz - aye <br /> Councilmember Carlson - aye <br /> Mayor Wells - aye Motion Carried <br /> • Councilmember Mathiowetz stated he understands there <br /> are no funds for signage. <br /> Motion/Second: Blanchard/Paone that the City Council <br /> of Mounds View deny the name change requested by the <br /> Lion' s Club for Lakeside Park. <br /> 5 ayes 0 nays Motion Carried <br /> Motion/Second: Paone/Blanchard to have :the Lion's <br /> Club and Park and Rec Directors get together to work <br /> on some type of recognition sign. • <br /> 5 ayes 0 nays Motion Carried <br /> An unidentified individual stated that if they do not <br /> ask., it will never happen. He expressed appreciation <br /> to both Councils, stating their decision may or may <br /> not be fair. The Lion's Club commitment will not <br /> change, but the focus may, but they will still work <br /> for the good of the community. <br /> The Spring Lake Park Council left the meeting at this <br /> time. <br /> 410 Councilmember Blanchard stated she felt the City should <br /> have some type of policy to address issues of this type <br /> in the future, and read a prepared statement about not <br /> naming a park or any other facility after an individual <br /> or organization. <br />
