Item No: 3C
Meeting Date: 05/01/06
Type of Business: WS
City of Mounds View Staff Report
To: Honorable Mayor and City Council
From: Kurt Ulrich, City Administrator
Item Title/Subject: Discuss City Hall Ribbon Cutting Ceremony on May22nd

The May 22nd meeting of the City Council will be the first Council meeting back at the
newly refurbished City Hall. Traditionally, the Twin City North Chamber has held
ribbon-cutting ceremonies to welcome new businesses or upon the opening of new
buildings and they have offered to help with ours. The benefit of the ribbon cutting is
that it will allow us an opportunity to mark the occasion and to publicize to our
customers the reopening of City Hall.

It is recommended that the ribbon cutting ceremony be held at 6:00pm on May 22nd.
The EDA meeting is scheduled to start at 6:30 pm so we will have about a half an hour
for the ceremony, pictures, and brief tours of the building for any in attendance.

Note, the Chamber generally prefers to have ribbon cuttings earlier in the day so that
more business members can attend, however, the proposed time I believe works better
for most members of the Council. If it worked for the Council, an option would be to
have the event at 4:30 or 5:00 pm that day.
