• Mounds View Planning Commission April 2, 1997
Special Agenda Meeting Page 8
The Commission went on to briefly discuss the wetland buffer and encroachment of
the project into the buffer and they indicated that this is not an issue.
Chair Peterson inquired about reconstruction of County Road H2 if necessary.
Director Sheldon responded that they do not expect that the level of traffic would
trigger reconstruction. A resident expressed his concern with paying for
reconstruction due to increased traffic flows for this type of project. Director
Sheldon informed the Commission that there are plans for County Road H2 to be
reconstructed in the year 2000.
The Commission talked briefly about installing a sidewalk on County Road H2 if the
increased traffic, as a result of this project, posed a safety risk to pedestrians, but
agreed that the impact would probably be insignificant. They continued with their
discussion regarding sidewalks along Highway 10, trail ways, and installing a
boardwalk around the wetland. Mr. Smith commented that Mr. Jay Anthony
provided a letter to the City indicating that he is willing to work with the City
regarding trails and walkways. Director Sheldon advised the Commission that the
City has existing wetland credits from the golf course construction that possibly
• could be used if a walkway or boardwalk infringed into the wetland, but they would
need to find out if this project would be a priority use for the credits.
The Commission decided that the signage issue would be dealt with at a later date.
Mr. Smith reassured them that they will meet the sign criteria and added that they
are planning to install a monument sign with a reader board showing movies and
starting times.
Chair Peterson concluded that the Planning Commission is in favor of what has
been presented but that no action would be taken this evening since it was a
.. - . . _ email" '. . . . — i —• •— i— —— • • and
direction of this project.
Mr. Smith asked if the Commission could take a straw vote so that he has an idea
of their feeling regarding the project. Other than traffic concerns that need to be
worked out and given other potential uses for the site, all Commissioners
expressed that they are in favor of the project.
•
