At present the City's
zoning code does not permit a community center as either a permitted use or a conditional
use.
The City Attorney had drafted two alternative code amendments for the Commission to
consider regarding the issue. Alternative one is to make a community center a permitted
use. Alternative two is to make community centers a conditional use and to set standard
for the issuance of conditional use permits. The Attorney's draft ordinances also include
other similar uses such as public or semi-public recreational buildings, schools, and
churches.
•
