Consideration <br /> present. of Resolution <br /> No. 409-95 <br /> The Planning Commission reviewed the Regarding the <br /> request by Reginald and Sharon Nelson Variance <br /> for a variance to allow 14 cats on their Request of <br /> premises at 8242 Greenwood Drive. The Reginald and <br /> Planning Commission reviewed the letter Sharon Nelson, <br /> received from Dr. Newman, a 8242 Greenwood <br /> veterinarian, who suggested that the cat Drive, Planning <br /> waste be placed in plastic bags and Case No. 404-94 <br /> disposed of with the everyday household <br /> waste. Mr. Nelson indicated that they <br /> would be following this suggestion and <br /> would even be double-bagging the cat <br /> waste. <br /> The Planning Commission briefly <br /> discussed the FIP (Feline Infectious <br /> Peritonitis) virus noting that in order <br /> to catch the disease, there must be a <br /> • live host or carrier (i.e. , live cat) <br /> present and that the disease could not <br /> be transferred through a vector (i.e. <br /> feces) . The Planning Commission, <br /> however, did request that the suggestion <br /> by Dr. Newman regarding the bagging of <br /> waste be added to proposed Resolution <br /> No. 409-95. The Planning Commission <br /> also requested that the owner notify the <br /> City upon the death of all 14 cats which <br /> were exposed to the FIP virus and the <br /> variance would then become void. <br /> Motion/Second: Stevenson/Nelson to <br /> approve Resolution No. 409-95 as <br /> amended, approving the variance request <br /> of Reginald and Sharon Nelson, 8242 <br /> Greenwood Drive. <br /> 7 ayes 0 nays Motion Carried <br /> The Planning Commission informed the <br /> applicant that upon death of all 14 cats <br /> he would be required to comply with <br /> existing Code requirements regarding <br /> 0 kennel licensing. <br />
